My first memories of my fascination with photography wasn’t in picking up a camera but in spending hours and hours starting at the age of four pouring over our extensive family album collection which had the pictures of my relatives as far back as the mid 1800’s.
I didn’t know all their names but I was fascinated by their individual life stories and their faces staring back at me. I searched for the physical characteristics we shared, loved looking at the settings and clothes which were from a era different than my own, I felt the connection to these people, I was here because of them.
I understand the importance of conserving the visual legacy of families. This is my primary goal when I shoot images for my photography clients. I am capturing real moments which becomes a part of their family’s legacy. When people are interviewed after losing everything in a house fire, what is the one thing everyone hopes is saved? ...The family photos.
I offer two custom services that help beautifully preserve your family photographs for your enjoyment now and for generations to come. The first option is an original 60 image slideshow set to music which is a wonderful tribute to the life of a loved one. The slideshow is complete within 48 hours of receiving the images and ready to be viewed at a funeral, memorial service or family event.
In preparation for the slideshow, I make a high resolution scan of each photograph which is then burned to a DVD along with any digital photo files as well. The result is a complete collection of family photos on one DVD. This becomes a rare and fortuitous moment when a family has gathered photos from various sources for the tribute. Most times the photos go back to the original owners and the collection is forever scattered. This DVD is an archive of the photos and may be copied as many times as you choose to distribute to other family members. The slideshow and photo archive DVD is $ 200 plus MN sales tax.
The second option is a hardbound book of family photographs. These are custom designed for each client so that your family’s story or that of your loved one is unique to those who’s legacy is being preserved.
The cost for a 10 X 8 40 page hardbound book start at $ 300. Since each book is unique in design the range of cost will depend but is not limited to # of pages, photographs used, addition of text or other possible design elements. It is definitely a difficult time when a loved one dies, [I lost my sister to cancer a little over a year ago]
